Our fellow F/friends, Friends International Library, have just completed a second edition of Power of Goodness: Stories of Nonviolence and Reconciliation.
This is a three-language edition in Russian, Chechen and English of stories showing love and kindness in action. It is loosely based on the Quaker young people’s classic Lighting Candles in the Dark. Designed to be attractive to English-language classes, it is also intended as a form of peace education and a resource for community mental health. A group of psychologists and educators in Chechnya has formed to use this book, and an accompanying teacher’s manual, in Chechen schools.
